The Luxury Coach & Transportation team is introducing a new concept in promoting bus safety intelligence at its live industry events. The Garage will debut at LCT East on Nov. 3 at the all-new Hard Rock Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
“I kept hearing concerns from OEMs and bus manufacturers that operators new to owning buses were in need of more training on preventative care," said LCT Publisher and Show Chair Sara Eastwood-Richardson, who will be at the Garage “grand opening."
“Education through hands-on training is always the best route to take. Mulling this challenge over, I came up with the idea to bring a functioning 'garage' to our show floor. I told Tom Holden (of Bus Advisors) about this idea and he went wild and immediately took charge to make sure the idea came to life.”
The first two official sponsors of The Garage are ABC Bus Companies, the North American distributor of Van Hool motorcoaches, and Rotary Lift. Expect to see a full-size Van Hool lifted six feet in the air on display. An experienced technician will be on hand to explain the engine, transmission, air systems, brakes, and other parts and systems that propel the modern motorcoach.
LCT contributing writer and owner of Bus Advisors, Tom Holden, will be the garage master and coordinate the event. “Come join me and the LCT team at an event that is the first of its kind," Holden said. "You have all looked inside these beauties, but now you get to look under them. In addition to our initial sponsors, we will also have Bridgestone educating on tires; understanding the air pressure (different for each axle) is so important. Did you know you can lease tires? What a way to save on cash flow. Also, Whip-Around will be there to show you the proper way to do a pre-trip or post-trip inspection. Saucon will explain all of the details of ELDs and camera systems and Bitimec will demonstrate time-saving ways to wash your buses. I’ve been going to shows for years and I’ve never seen anything like the Garage concept. I am thrilled to be heading this project. Be sure to come to LCT East and participate.”
