Minnesota Fire Department Fights Major Blaze with Drones

A report from the Duluth News Tribune detailed how the West Fargo Fire Department used a drone to combat a three-alarm fire Dec. 5.

An off-duty training officer used quick thinking to bring the unmanned arial vehicle and put it to the test after the department had spent around two years training and working with them.

Fire Chief Steve Dirksen said the thermal imaging and the real-time video capabilities provided the crew with the ability to grasp the situation better from a higher point of view. He also stated drones can give a better indication of how and why a fire started in a given area.
