The Sherman, Texas, Police and Fire Departments have recieved their first thermal imaging drone, which will be used to help detect missing persons and chase down suspects by tracking their body heat.

According to KXII, the drone has one camera as well as headlights that can be removed and replaced with a speaker. The camera can switch from a regular viewing camera to a monitor that detects heat and shows hot spots.

For now, the Police Department will keep the drone in its possession since it is the only department with people who know how to fly it. If the Fire Department needs it, the pilots will be dispatched to the scene to assist.

The drone was a gift from Tekwav, a local internet services company.
