The long-range Tesla Model 3 was one of several EVs recognized at the annual Autocar Awards.

Electric-powered vehicles (EVs) took several top spots in the recently announced 2022 Autocar Awards. Britain’s 127-year old weekly auto magazine, Autocar’s annual awards recognize the best vehicles in the country.

Winning EV models included:

Tesla Model 3 – Best Company Car: “The electric car brand of the future,” according to Autocar. The Model 3 Long-Range offers driving range of 358 miles, supported by any public station or at the Tesla world-wide charging network of more than 30,000 Superchargers and growing.

KIA's EV6 – Best Electric Car: Autocar editor Mark Tisshaw described the Kia EV as “packed with cutting-edge tech. With the EV6, KIA has eclipsed its natural rivals, and the car goes further than most rivals to make every day motoring feel special.”

Škoda ENYAQ iV – Best Family Car: The Czech automaker’s first electric SUV, the ENYAQ iV has been “designed by people who understand the way the world works...it’s roomy, cleverly thought-out and ergonomically sensible,” said Tisshaw.

Fiat 500 electric – Best Small Car: The battery electric city car, Tisshaw calls the Fiat an “incredibly capable little city car. With a class-leading WLTP range of 199 miles, three driving modes to aid energy efficiency and great handling - the Fiat 500 embodies everything city cars should strive to be.”

Mercedes C300e – Best Hybrid: With a real-world 50-mile driving range, the C300e can charge at up to 55 kW and in less than 30 minutes with a DC rapid charger. “The car has strong performance and impressive cruising refinement too, with particularly good manual energy regeneration controls aiding drivability,” according to Autocar.

The self-described “world’s oldest motoring magazine,” Autocar now publishes international editions for China, India, New Zealand, and South Africa.
