“After entering the fleet leasing industry 35 years ago and joining Volvo Car UK 25 years ago, then progressing to a global leadership role with Volvo Car Corporation 13 years later, I made the decision back in November to retire on May 31, 2022,” said Wallace.

During his career with Volvo Car Group, Wallace held a variety of management positions such as director global fleet and global major accounts from October 2016 - July 2017. He also served as global fleet development director, global fleet operations from October 2012 to October 2016, based in Wokingham, Berkshire, UK.

Prior to taking on global responsibilities, Wallace was leasing and rental manager for Volvo Car UK Ltd.

“I leave as Volvo Cars are poised for even greater success, and I know they will continue to go from strength to strength not only because of the amazing range of cars, but also from their industry-leading transformation of the customer journey and ownership experience,” said Wallace. “It’s been fantastic to see the perception of Volvo change over this time, becoming a true Premium brand that people desire. And – in Europe especially – Premium brands are Fleet brands, so it’s very rewarding to have played a part in that journey.”

In 1992, Wallace started his OEM career with Ford Motor Credit as a fleet and leasing specialist, where he served for five years.

In addition to OEM experience, Wallace also had fleet leasing experience selling to large car fleet operations while working as the sales manager for Swan National Leasing in Lichfield, UK, from 1990-1992.

“Fleet has been a great industry to be part of – and it’s the people that help to make it special: customers, colleagues and business partners, stakeholders and (even!) competitors,” said Wallace. “In the words of Mark Twain ‘Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’ "
