If you’re looking for a courier vehicle with a low total cost of ownership and plenty of safety equipment, the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage fits the bill, selling at a low acquisition cost with good fuel efficiency and a host of safety technologies.

The Mitsubishi Mirage received a substantial redesign in 2021 that included front and rear exterior styling updates. The Mirage’s rear bumper and valance are wider than before, lending a more planted and stable appearance to the vehicle. Standard LED L-shaped horizontal combination taillamps stretch across the rear of the car, providing the 2022 Mirage with a modernized and sporty stance that will appeal to secondary buyers at resale.

Responsive & Efficient Engine

I recently had an opportunity to test drive the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage, which was equipped with a 1.2L 3-cylinder DOHC engine featuring the latest version of Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) variable valve timing.

Deigned for efficiency, the Mirage’s three-cylinder engine produces 78 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 74 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm while offering fuel economy of 36/43/39 city/highway/combined MPG when equipped with the optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). Based on my driving experience, the Mirage offers peppy performance in congested urban traffic that requires frequent lane changes and delivers good fuel economy in a stop-and-go driving environment.

Enhanced Active Safety Features

All 2022 Mirage models comes equipped with forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection as standard equipment. This system helps drivers remain attentive behind the wheel, with audible and visual alerts, and can even activate the brakes to help avoid a crash or mitigate damage if one occurs. In addition, lane departure warning and automatic high beam systems are available on the top-line SE trim level of the Mirage.

The 2022 Mirage is loaded with safety equipment such as  a seven-airbag supplemental restraint system consisting of dual front airbags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, dual side-impact curtain airbags, and a driver’s knee airbag; four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist; tire pressure monitoring system; and active stability control with traction control logic. All models also include hill start assist.

Excellent Transferrable Warranty

Every 2022 Mirage has a fully transferable 5-year/60,000-mile new-vehicle limited warranty; 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty; 7-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty and a 5-year/unlimited mile roadside assistance.
