On Aug. 17, outgoing IARA President Jeannie Chiaromonte passed the presidential gavel to Tim Meta during the final event of the 2017 IARA Summer Roundtable.

Chiaromonte took some time to talk about her tenure as president of the IARA, and upon concluding, shared a package of gifts with Meta, meant to aid him in his role as president. Meta then took the dais and thanks various people, committees and members that contribute to the IARA’s success.

For the first IARA Newsletter as president of the IARA, Meta had some thoughts to share:

I am excited to assist the Alliance as I feel it uniquely partners the consignors and their vendors to collaborate across the industry to solve problems.  The work being done by the Alliance is conducted on a voluntary basis by an experienced group of industry leaders seeking various improvements to the automotive remarketing industry.

I would like to thank our Alliance members who volunteer their time and talent to the continued success and growth of IARA.

If one consignor presents an idea and that idea increases the sales price of a vehicle sold through the auction process, that idea enhances the value to all other lenders selling a similar vehicle.  This is one example of the spirit of the peer collaboration cultivated by the Alliance.

The remarketing vendors also support the consignors as we all work to enhance our industry.  The IARA committees focus on specific relevant topics and industry needs in support of all partners.  In August, we concluded a successful roundtable meeting in Nashville and the Alliance is already planning our next meeting in February at the Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR).  Mark your schedule for our August 2018 summer roundtable at the JW Marriott at the Marco Island Resort.

I have the privilege of co-chairing the Compliance Committee with Jeannie Chiaromonte and Robert Sullivan.  This Committee works on all existing compliance issues and anticipates new issues such as protecting personal data stored in automobiles. The committee is always open to members who want to contribute their ideas and time.

Sincerely,

Tim Meta
