The 2019 Nissan Titan XD stakes out a unique position between traditional heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, offering the towing and hauling capability of larger, more expensive heavy-duty trucks — yet with fuel-efficiency and affordability closer to a 1/2-ton pickup.

For the 2019 model-year, Titan XD, like the Titan 1/2-ton, features a range of enhancements.

“The fleet benefits of the Titan center on a low total cost of ownership, made possible through the industry best five-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, which helps provide the customer peace of mind and takes the guesswork out of any unscheduled repair costs,” said Mark Namuth, senior manager, Commercial Vehicle Sales for Nissan.

Well-Suited for Vocational Work

First debuted in 2016, the 2019 Titan XD lineup includes Crew Cab, King Cab, and Single Cab body styles; two bed lengths; a choice of a Cummins 5.0L V-8 Turbo Diesel or Nissan 5.6L Endurance V-8 engines; 4x4 or 4x2 drivelines; and five grade levels.

The gasoline engine can achieve up to 390 hp at 394 lb.-ft. of torque, while the diesel engine achieves up to 310 hp at 555 lb.-ft. of torque.
With up to 12,710-pounds towing capacity, the Titan XD is well-suited to pull utility trailers for the landscape market.

Also, the factory-provided gooseneck provision is ideal for equipment trailers hauling machinery for construction, excavating, and agricultural vocations.

Titan XD has an available maximum payload capacity of 2,990 pounds (when properly equipped). The Crew Cab model features a towing capacity up to 11,960 pounds.

Utilizing a durable, proven chassis design from Nissan Commercial Vehicles, the fully boxed, full-length ladder frame is reinforced extensively and strengthened for use with the Titan XD with added stiffness, vertical and lateral bending, and torsional rigidity. It also features an extended 151.6-inch wheelbase — about 20-inches longer than Titan models.

Ample ground clearance helps the truck travel anywhere, from construction sites to urban roads.

To maximize stability, handling, and ride comfort, Titan XD uses a heavy-duty double-wishbone. The stabilizer bar front suspension is reinforced and tuned for hard use, and the rigid rear axle suspension utilizes leaf springs, leaf bushings, and twin-tube shock absorbers. The axle is a large purpose-built American Axle Manufacturing design. Also available is an electronic locking rear differential.

An additional unique option is the factory-authorized suspension lift kit from ICON Vehicle Dynamics. Constructed for Titan and Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 models, the bolt-on kits offer increased ground clearance plus a suspension lift of up to 3 inches.

Fleet managers can also receive incentives up to $500 to upfit the Nissan Titan XD.

When tragedy strikes, a Titan responds. Few live this better than the American Red Cross. As part of the Calling All Titans campaign, Nissan and the Red Cross collaborated to create the Ultimate Service Titan, a mobile command center and first aid unit armed with supplies needed to help conquer the elements in the face of disaster.

Originating as a stock Titan XD diesel crew cab Midnight edition — featuring a heavy-duty commercial-grade ladder frame and Cummins 5.0-L V-8 Turbo Diesel engine — several enhancements were made to create the Ultimate Service Titan.

The truck features a desk, solar power generator, and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, creating a command center for volunteers.

Enhanced Towing Capabilities

Included in the Titan XD’s available towing aids are an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, trailer sway control, and tow/haul mode with downhill speed control. A trailer light check system allows a one-person hook-up operation to check turn signals, brake lights, and running/clearance lights from inside the Titan cab or with the key fob.

Also assisting trailer hook-ups is the Titan XD’s available RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides. An available Intelligent Around View Monitor (I-AVM) provides a composite bird’s-eye view of the surrounding area from the front, rear, and side cameras to help with parking and maneuvering tight spaces. The system also includes Moving Object Detection (MOD), which helps alert the driver to detected moving objects around the vehicle via an on-screen notification and warning chime.

A range of hitches is available, including an integrated gooseneck hitch engineered into the frame and accessible in the bed. Gooseneck hitches put the load in front of the rear axle, enhancing the ability to control the vehicle, according to Nissan.

Also new for 2019, the integrated gooseneck hitch includes a plug inside the bed for enhanced towing ease. The 2019 Nissan Titan XD meets the J2807 certification’s standards.

Titan XD also includes a range of available advanced driving aids, including Blind Spot Warning (BSW), front and rear sonar system, and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Nissan is no stranger to Habitat for Humanity, having donated more than 150 trucks and $16.9 million since 2005.

Featuring a complete mobile office, toolkit, and off-road necessities, the one-of-a-kind work vehicle originated as a stock Titan XD diesel crew cab Midnight edition. Nissan added the ICON three-inch suspension lift kit, and added bumpers, grappler tires, and a winch for added capability in any situation.

The truck includes a 13-inch laptop and printer and features a mobile office in the back seat. The truck bed features a BEDSLIDE 2000 heavy-duty for easy access to tools and equipment. Additionally, a TrailFX ladder rack is included with multiple commercial grade ladders.

Tech for Everyday Use

A new 7-inch touchscreen audio/IT display with NissanConnect features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard on all models. In addition, a new rear door alert (RDA) system helps remind drivers to check the back seat after the vehicle is parked, added as standard equipment on Titan XD King Cab and Crew Cab models.

“Our focus for 2019 was building on what our customers already love, and honing in on what makes the Titan XD even better to drive every day. We’ve focused on the daily touchpoints with an all-new designed Audio/IT display featuring Apple Carplay and Android Auto, additional USB ports, and a new segment-exclusive, 485-Watt Fender Audio system that absolutely rocks,” said Ari Schiftan, product planning for Nissan.

The 2019-model also features an additional USB media port, for two total ports. A pair of illuminated USB-A charge ports is added to PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve grades.

A new body-color outer grille with gloss metallic black inner treatment has been introduced for the SV grade, which replaces the previous chrome grille treatment.

The truck also features a 24.5L diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank, up from 17L on the 2018 model.

Titan XD also offers available dual lockable in-bed “Titan Box” storage boxes that sit sight-unseen at street level and can hold a wide range of essential work and recreational equipment. The Titan XD units are accessible from inside the bed without having to remove a camper top or tonneau cover. The boxes are watertight (and drainable) and can be used as a cooler for picnics or tailgating. They are also easily removable for times when extra bed capacity is required.
