The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will be holding a public “Trucking Safety Summit” meeting on March 19 in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the summit is for the agency to receive information on improving the safe operation of motor carriers.

The event will be held from 9 am to 4 pm Eastern at the U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters building on at 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE in Washington, DC.

FMCSA said that this formal conference will provide members of the public as well as invited stakeholders, including motor carriers, truck, drivers, safety technology developers, federal and state agency, partners, and safety advocacy groups, “an opportunity to share their ideas on improving trucking safety.”

According to the agency, the program will feature an in-depth discussion regarding all aspects of truck safety, the latest safety data, and emerging technologies. “Our goal is to use this summit as a productive dialogue between FMCSA, industry, law enforcement, and safety advocates to help improve our shared goal of road safety for all Americans.”

A full agenda for the summit is available online.

The meeting will include a brief public comment period in the mid to late afternoon. All persons wishing to speak then must register in advance by emailing their request to Ms. Janettarose L. Greene at this address: [email protected].
