The City of Cape Coral, Fla., Fleet Management Division has obtained the Blue Seal of Excellence from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

To become a Blue Seal shop, at least 75% of technicians performing diagnostics and repairs must be ASE certified, and each area of service offered in the shop must be covered by at least one ASE certified technician. The fleet division has been working on its Blue Seal for the past three and a half years, since Fleet Manager Marilyn Rawlings took over, Rawlings said. The fleet division now has 11 technicians holding a total of 45 ASE certifications, she said.

“We have been working hard to change the perception of fleet with both our customers and the staff. We have been ranked in the Leading Fleets for the past three years, but this tells us we have buy-in from the technicians. They believe they are good, and fleet is worth investing their time and talents in. It doesn’t get much better than that!” Rawlings said.

She added that 175 of the 1,011 shops in the Blue Seal program are government entities, citing data from ASE.
