Citing hydrogen as one of the most efficient ways of storing and transporting renewable energies, BMW believes the energy source is a zero-emission alternative to battery-electric vehicles.
Concerns over limited availability of raw materials impacting the growth of battery electric vehicles, Toyota and BMW are are developing a secondary zero emissions vehicle strategy.
“We think hydrogen-powered vehicles are ideally placed technologically to fit alongside battery-electric vehicles and complete the electric mobility picture,” said Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG.

Compared with the first half of 2021, the strongest in the company’s history, sales decreased by 13.3%. Across all industries, growth this year continues to be impacted by the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe, the intermittent Covid lockdowns in China and persistent semiconductor availability.
