The Vermont State Police has purchased 11 new unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) that it has deployed throughout the state.
A bill that would allow Vermont police to take a saliva sample from drivers who appear drug impaired received preliminary approval by the state's House on March 1. If the bill passes in a second vote on the House floor, it will move to the Senate.
Legislators in the state are also set to weigh legalization of recreational marijuana for adults over 21.
The state DMV is conducting a PR campaign to educate drivers about the impending policy change and the need to prevent distracted driving.
