Chinese automotive manufacturer Great Wall Motor Company (GWM) has officially launched its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model HAVAL H6 in the Thailand market, completing the firm’s electric vehicle (EV) product line there.

Other GWN EVs already introduced in Thailand include the HAVAL JOLION hybrid SUV, ORA GOODCAT subcompact and ORA GOOD CAT GT hatchback.

Since a September pre-sale, orders of HAVAL H6 PHEV exceeded 7,000, “reflecting the high demand of Thailand consumers for intelligent new energy vehicles with cutting-edge technology, safety performance, and environmental protection,” said Narong Sritalayon, marketing general manager, GWN Thailand.

The HAVAL H6 PHEV features GWM L.E.M.O.N. platform, L.E.M.O.N DHT technology, and 1.5L turbine engine, with a maximum power of 240 kW and a torque of 530 Nm, and is equipped a range of intelligent driving assist and safety systems.

GWM Thailand General Manager Chong Baoyu said, “GWM is not only to provide high-quality products and services for Thailand consumers but also to win a strategic position for Thailand and make it become an electric vehicle R&D and manufacturing center in ASEAN."

Company data reported a total of 11,796 GWM EVs have been sold in Thailand already this year. The first new-energy vehicle launched in Thailand, the HAVAL H6 HEV has ranked first in the sales volume in Thailand C-class SUV segment for 11 months, according to GWM.

The eighth-largest automaker in China, GWM has established local operations and production facilities in Thailand, featuring sustainable production, sales and EV servicing.
